What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a well-established approach to healthcare and has been around since the 1870s. It is based on a unique system of clinical diagnosis that takes the whole body into account. It is a very safe form of manual treatment and uses no drugs.
With a minimum of 4 years full-time osteopathic education along with considerable clinical practice experience, we assess you and your symptoms holistically in relation to your medical history, any previous accidents or injuries you may have had, your occupation, sports and hobbies, your posture and lifestyle, as well as your diet and your emotional wellbeing. The approach at our Ashmore clinic is detailed and very thorough.
We use our hands to investigate the underlying causes of your pain, and carry out treatment using a wide variety of hands-on techniques. We also give lifestyle advice where appropriate. A caring approach and attention to the needs of the individual is a characteristic of our Osteopaths and is important throughout the treatment we provide.
Osteopathy has one of the best safety records of any medically related profession. We at GC Osteopathy are trained to recognise conditions that might make osteopathic treatment inadvisable, and in such cases we will refer you for appropriate medical attention.
We offer considerably more than just "Spinal Manipulation" or "Massage with Manipulation"; in fact our treatment techniques are adapted to each person at each visit. We are skilled and trained to use muscle or connective tissue stretching, rhythmic joint movements, muscle energy technique, cranial osteopathy, joint manipulation, positional release, myofascial release and other gentle release techniques. In each session we mix and interweave techniques in order to bring about the very best treatment results.
Our techniques can be used to affect not only your joints and muscles, but can also be gently applied to help internal organs by improving the blood flow around them. Osteopathy not only relieves pain, but people find their posture may improve, they can cope better with stress, and some report increased energy levels.
