Dr Joyaa Antares has 30 years experience of using osteopathy to help toddlers and babies
If you are considering osteopathy for your toddler or baby, here's some info
We see a lot of toddlers and babies in our clinic. Dr Joyaa Antares (Osteopath) has been treating children of all ages including very young babies for many years and he has gained a reputation for his skills in this area. He will liaise with your Midwife, Lactation Consultant, Occupational Therapist, your GP or Paediatrician and others as necessary. Joyaa has done numerous trainings over the years (30 years!) related to osteopathy for babies and children, including a Graduate Certificate in Neonatal & Infant Paediatric Manual Therapy. Currently he is leading a team of international professionals writing a comprehensive review about the treatment of Torticollis (a condition seen in some babies and toddlers where the head position tends to favours one side). This review is on track to be published in a well known journal in the Spring of 2024.
Apart from babies with Torticollis, what conditions regularly present to the clinic? We see babies with reflux and colic, others that are having difficulties feeding. Some babies are restless and unsettled and have poor sleep (and exhausted parents!); and postural or structural issues present such as Flat Head or problems with the hips or feet. Toddlers come in with all kinds of different complaints. Stiff neck, walking issues, painful knees, stiff hips, problems with posture. Sometimes the toddler might have had a fall or some kind of accident. They may have headaches, or ear infections. Occasionally there are behavioural problems. And don't forget the pregnant mums. We will write another blog about this soon. Suffice to say here - Joyaa likes to treat pregnant mums; in fact he recommends that every women should have at least one osteopathic treatment during pregnancy. This may simply be a check-up to make sure all is well; or it can be an essential tool to assist some of the common presentations of pregnancy such as back pain and this might need more regular visits.
